I Can Do That

Ellie doing the splits like her Auntie Maria. I don't think that I could ever, in my whole life, do the splits, but Ellie can at 16 months. She actually is like an inch or two away, but she gets really close.

Sleepy time

I lay Ellie down for her nap everyday at 1 o'clock. I put her in her crib, get her snuggled up with her bear, and hand her a book and then she falls a sleep pretty quick without crying. One day I checked in on her and she had her book laying over her face opened, but was fast asleep. She was probably holding it up and looking at the pictures when she fell asleep. I thought that it was really funny and would have taken a picture, but for fear of waking a sleeping Ellie I passed on the picture. At night she doesn't get the luxury of a book, just the company of her bear, a prayer with mommy and a song.

Computers and Books

Maria and Ellie playing on the computer. Ellie loves to sit in Maria's lap and watch her play webkinz. Ellie also does the sign for computer now. She has learned a few more signs since we've moved (mouse, lion, computer, bowl). Signs she already knows are milk (most frequently used sign), food, more, please, thank you, all done, doggy, kitty, bird, chicken, cracker (also used all the time), cereal, daddy, cheese, book (used a lot), baby, sleep, bear, phone, drink. She says the words daddy, home, mommy, nana, papa, apple, diaper, doggy, ha ha, ho ho ho, juice, cheese, hi, bye, no. She has also started combining signs together (more please or milk please).

Our Christmas Vacation

Ellie loved walking on the beach. She wanted to run around, but it was a little cold to let her get all wet.
It was Christmas Eve when we went to the beach, so we thought this snowman (or sandman) very appropriate.
We also went to the San Diego Zoo. Ellie was standing pressing her hands against a Nile Crocodile (with glass between, of course). She was pointing to the fish in this tank and doing the sign for fish.
Family picture in front of the flamingo pond.
I love this picture we took in front of this beautiful San Diego sunset.
